El Mundo Es…

El Mundo es… is a show inspired by a dream I had in April of 2008. In my dream, my aunty Nona told me I should make four paintings of the world that we live in. This included water, earth, etc. As dreams go, I lost a lot of the threads and details but I remember seeing the works on the wall and what stood out was the title. I don’t think my aunty spoke Spanish. Seven years later, I honored her request and made five paintings inspired by the Five Elements used for diagnosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine. They now live together in a private collection.
